We are live in EDINBURGH!!!!! Soo excited as it’s my first time here and the food scene beckons! When I tell you that the Tiger lily Hotel is lovely?! Our room is fantastic and the bathroom – gorgeous! With our mood up, we are ready to take in all the sights, sounds and food (obviously) that this city has to offer. When we go away, we typically plan for one food adventure and then free style the rest. This strategy has not failed us… yet! (fingers remaining crossed). The Honours happened to be one of the places we went to on a fly. Actually, it was at the recommendation of the concierge at the hotel. Can we take a moment and give a s/o to all concierge, help desk, information people found at hotels? These amazing people have the low down on everything local. We see you and appreciate you!

Coincidentally, there were no free tables initially as the restaurant was expecting a full dinner service. We decided to have drinks, contemplate and try out another place for food later. We snagged a spot by the bar. I do love when a place makes good use of lights, decor and everything has just a ‘clean’ look. Ha! Clearly I am feeling the decor of this place.

The Edinburgh gods were clearly on our side, we were offered a table because there was a cancellation and I don’t think a cancelled reservation has made me so glad. The food up in here? Damn good I tell you! Meal started off with parmesan risotto and duck terrine – ground duck meat, vegetables, herbs and spices. We progressed to mains which was Morrocan Lemon Chicken, French beans, potatoes, tagliatelle and fish. And no, it was not all tossed into one dish, there were small plates which is how Neal and I love to sample food. I reckon this is due to the Filipina in me, or the fact that it’s portion control in both our minds or maybe we are just into tapas style eating . All I am saying is it is fool proof, plus you get to taste a bit more of what a place has to offer – the trick is to order a variety of starters!

I also have to give props to the pudding here – their honours sundae is freaking awesome!  It is toffee caramel ice-cream, honey comb, caramelised banana and pecans! laaawwwdddddd!

There really isn’t much to be said about the deliciousness of the sundae. The ingredients say it all but if in doubt, let me say this, it was scrumptiously yummy! My birthday weekend is off on a great note! Cant wait for all the other food adventures !

cheers
